Being a travel agent certainly has its perks and they don’t come much better than this – a seven day trip of a lifetime to experience the luxury, serenity and paradise of Saint Lucia and Capella Marigot Bay.
My trip was with Virgin Atlantic and Capella Marigot Bay Resort and Marina. St Lucia is a year round destination and this resort is very much for sun seekers who desire luxury and tranquility in a paradise setting.
My Capella Personal Assistants were Carina and Monty. They are at your service and ready to arrange anything you’d like to do on the island, from hiking the Pitons mountains - the most photographed landmark on the island - to a less strenuous shopping trip.
I particually loved the funky designer furniture around the hotel’s pretty three-tiered pool, and the ceviche - a seafoood dish - at the new poolside Brut Bar is to die for. There’s a refreshing focus at the hotel’s restaurants on the culture and cuisine of the island, with some delicious local dishes on the menu and an extensive programme of excursions designed to show you the real Saint Lucia. The Capella Personal Assistants rang me a week before I arrived to make sure everything would be as I would expect from a five star resort.
James A. Michener once described Marigot Bay as “the most beautiful in the Caribbean”, and it’s a fitting backdrop for this stylish, contemporary resort, which has recently been transformed by a multi-million dollar refurbishment and is under new management. With elegant accommodation, superb fine dining and a world class spa, not to mention the buzzing bars and chic boutiques of the revamped marina, you’ll have everything you need for an unforgettable stay.
How did I get there?
It took nine hours to fly from the UK with award winning Virgin Atlantic in Upper Class, and there is a five hour time difference from the UK. The lounge was amazing at Gatwick, where breakfast was served before I boarded. On entering the aircraft, I was welcomed by crew with champagne that was later followed by a four course sumptuous lunch with a selection of fine wines, and then a turn down service to have a sleep in a lie-flat bed.
I was greeted on arrival by a hotel representative and enjoyed a 45 minute private transfer in an air conditioned car to the resort.
Some recommended trips:
· Whale watching and Dolphin spotting
· Castries Market
· St Lucia Catamaran day sail taking in the famous Pitons
· Aerial Tram and Zipline Canopy Tour over the rainforest
· Drive in Volcano at Sulphur Springs
· Island Tour and Sunset Cruise
Everyone I encountered in Capella Marigot Bay, and on the island in general, were very hospitable and nothing was too much trouble.
The Capella Marigot Bay is definitely one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and Saint Lucia one of the most breathtakingly scenic Caribbean islands that bestowed memories that will last a lifetime.
I am delighted to be able to book you to this fabulous hotel with the Caribtours programme. Prices start at 7 nights from £1,615 per person, based on two adults sharing a Resort View Room, including breakfast, return scheduled flights, private transfers and use of a lounge at Gatwick.
