First Look at Royal Caribbean's Latest Ship

There's something incredibly special about stepping onboard a ship that's making history. At Oasis Travel, we were privileged to be among the first to experience Royal Caribbean's Legend of the Seas during her inaugural sailing. We couldn't wait to discover whether the newest addition to the Icon Class would live up to the excitement, and we're delighted to say it exceeded every expectation.

Over several unforgettable days at sea, we explored every neighbourhood, sampled as many restaurants as possible, watched spectacular entertainment and, of course, found a few favourite spots we'd happily return to again and again. We even found ourselves saying, "Have you seen this yet?" more times than we could count. Every corner seemed to reveal something new.

Every guest will leave with their own highlights, but these are the places, experiences and little moments that stood out to our team the most.

If you're wondering what makes Legend of the Seas so special, here's our first look at the ship everyone will be talking about.

EXPLORE MORE

Swim & Tonic

If there was one place that instantly put us into holiday mode, it was Swim & Tonic. As Royal Caribbean's first swim-up bar at sea, it quickly became our unofficial meeting point. Whether we were cooling off with a frozen cocktail, catching up after exploring another neighbourhood or simply soaking up the sunshine, we somehow always ended up back here.

With a lively atmosphere, great music and beautiful ocean views, it's one of those places where an hour easily turns into an afternoon—and without doubt one of the standout venues on board.

The Hideaway

One of the biggest surprises for us was The Hideaway. Perched high above the ocean, this adults-only infinity pool offers breathtaking panoramic views and a relaxed beach club atmosphere that's perfect for escaping the buzz elsewhere on the ship.

Whether it was enjoying a peaceful morning coffee, unwinding with a book in the afternoon or watching the sunset with a cocktail in hand, this quickly became one of our favourite places to simply slow down and appreciate being at sea.

Surfside

Families are going to love Surfside. Designed specifically with young families in mind, this colourful neighbourhood brings together splash zones, family-friendly dining, play areas and relaxing spaces for parents, all within easy reach.

It's a brilliant concept that makes family cruising feel effortless, allowing everyone to spend more time making memories and less time walking from one end of the ship to the other.

Entertainment

Even after action-packed days exploring the ship, the evenings somehow became the highlight.

The spectacular Charlie & The Chocolate Factory production* combines stunning costumes, impressive special effects and an incredibly talented cast to create a show that wouldn't feel out of place in London's West End. It's the kind of performance that keeps you talking long after the curtain comes down.

Then there's the unforgettable Aqua Show. Watching high divers, aerial performers and acrobats perform incredible stunts against the backdrop of the open ocean is something that simply has to be seen to be believed. Every member of our team came away amazed by the precision, athleticism and creativity of the performance.

Central Park

Walking through Central Park never lost its appeal. Filled with thousands of real plants and trees, it's easy to forget you're sailing in the middle of the ocean.

Whether it was a leisurely stroll, enjoying a quiet drink or sitting down for dinner beneath the twinkling lights, this neighbourhood offers a completely different atmosphere to the rest of the ship. It genuinely feels more like wandering through a stylish city park than being onboard one of the world's largest cruise ships.

Dining

The dining on Legend of the Seas was every bit as impressive as we'd hoped, and choosing where to eat each day became part of the adventure.

Our mornings often started with a freshly brewed coffee and breakfast from Park Café before heading off to explore, while sunny afternoons called for relaxed lunches at El Loco Fresh, where the tacos, burritos and loaded nachos were the perfect poolside fuel.

As evening arrived, deciding between restaurants became the hardest part of the day. From perfectly cooked steaks at Chops Grille to the fresh flavours and expertly prepared sushi at Izumi, every meal felt like an occasion. The variety on board means there's genuinely something for everyone, whether you're after a casual bite or a memorable speciality dining experience.

And, of course, no evening was complete without one final stop at Sorrento's Pizza. Whether it was a late-night slice after the theatre or a quick snack before calling it a night, it quickly became something of a tradition for our team—and one we'll definitely be continuing on future sailings.

Our Verdict

What impressed us most wasn't just the incredible attractions or the record-breaking features—it was how effortlessly everything comes together.

Legend of the Seas somehow manages to be exciting without ever feeling overwhelming. It's packed with unforgettable experiences, world-class entertainment and incredible dining, while still offering peaceful spaces where you can switch off and simply enjoy the journey.

Whether you're travelling as a couple, a family or a group of friends, this is a ship that allows everyone to create their own perfect holiday before coming together to share it all at the end of the day.

Having experienced Legend of the Seas firsthand, we can confidently say she's much more than just Royal Caribbean's newest ship, she's a destination in her own right. We can't wait to help our customers experience everything she has to offer, and we have a feeling she'll be topping holiday wish lists for many years to come.
